Rufus Lee Cook Sr., 91, of Panama City, FL passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023. He was born on January 2, 1932 in Omar, West Virginia. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a Civilian Engineer with the Naval Support Activity of Panama City for 30 years, retiring in 1991. His second career was enjoying and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the St. Andrew Baptist Church. Rufus was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Minta Cook, two sisters and four brothers. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Dean Cook; four children, Lee Cook (Ann), Beth Campbell (Joel), Brenda Sierra, Beverly Chase (Bob); seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at 1 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home chapel. A private family interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 -1 pm prior to the service. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
