Roy Gene Barnes, 82, of Lynn Haven, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016. He was born July 14, 1933 in Compass Lake, Florida and had been a lifelong resident of the area. He was a 1951 graduate of Bay High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a retired industrial salesman. In his spare time he loved painting landscapes and was an avid reader. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Hood Barnes; 2 children, Debra Statham (Thomas); Stephen Lee Barnes (Suzanne); granddaughter, Jordyn Statham; sister, Wanda Segers,; 2 brothers, Glen Barnes (Virginia), Billy Barnes (Mary Nell) and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Apostle Nolan Ball officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Jerry Hood, Jimmy Hood, Tim Hood, Chris Hood, Allen Cobb and Glenn Barnes.
