Obituary

Ronald Charles Sott, 72, of Lynn Haven, passed away on Wednesday, March 11th, 2015. He was born June 15th, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio. He served in the United States Air Force and graduated from the University of Miami. Ron retired from TECO Gas Company.

One of the many awards he earned was the Miami TV Film Cameraman of the Year in 1967. Ron was very active in the community and enjoyed coaching girls softball in the Lynn Haven league during the 1980's. He was a member of the Bay County Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed working on the Military Affairs Board. He also served as the Chairman of the Operating Board for the American Cancer Society from 2002-2004. His most recent endeavor was participating in the Knights of Columbus. Foremost, his greatest joy was being PawPaw. His love for his wife, daughter, grandsons and family in general was beyond compare. There was no bigger joy for Ron than being there for "his boys" academic achievements. He was their biggest fan and never missed any of their sporting events especially football with the Southport Bulldogs and Bozeman Bucks. He enjoyed spending time with them in any way possible.

He is survived by his wife, Gerry Dee Sott; daughter, Roni Ann McKee and her husband Jon; two grandchildren, David Alan McKee and Jarred Austin McKee; brother, Thomas Sott and his wife Laura, and a sister, Sandy Simon. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11am in the St. John Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 4-6 pm with a rosary service to be held at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the St. John Catholic Church in memory of Ron Sott. Active pallbearers are Jon McKee, David McKee, Jarred McKee, Christopher Durham, Gregory Hinkle and Jason Rottero. Honorary pallbearers are James Garcia, Edward Hiteshew and members of the Knights of Columbus.
