Rodney Wayne Tilley, 53, of Panama City Florida passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018. Rodney went to his true home after a long battle with cancer. He had to overcome odds that would bring the strongest person to their knees, yet he persevered with strength and dignity that can only come from his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Rodney put God first and loved his family and friends with all his heart. He made an impact on this world that will be felt for many lifetimes. Rodney was born in Shreveport, Louisiana January 9, 1965. He graduated Mosley High School in 1983 and attended Troy State University. Rodney coached Panama City Beach Dolphins for 13 years and impacted many young people's lives. He is survived by parents, Wiley and Sally Tilley, wife, Marilyn "Cricket" Tilley, stepchildren Isabella and Stephen Smith, brother, Mike Smith, as well as a host of other loving relatives and friends. Rodney served in law enforcement his whole life. He had worked for the Panama City Beach Police Department for 20 years and the State Attorney Office for 4 years. He was a high-ranking supervisor for the State of Florida at the Division of Alcohol Beverage and Tobacco. Under Rodney's supervision, ABT excelled in being the most productive office in the State of Florida. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 12 noon at Woodstock Church, Panama City Beach with the Reverend Steve Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:30 AM to 12 noon prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active Pallbearers will be Steve Meadows, John Powell, Tom Connors, Blaine Tiller, Chad Lindsey, Wayne Maddox, Keith Whitaker and Mike Smith. Honorary pallbearer will be Tommy Brewton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to cancer research or the Bay County Humane Society.
