ROBERT LEE RIGDON

Robert Lee Rigdon, 86, of Panama City, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 12, 2009. He was born January 9, 1923 in West Bay, Florida. Robert graduated from Bay High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Coast in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska during World War II. After the war, he returned to Panama City to work with International Paper Company. He retired as a shipping clerk from the paper mill in 1988 after 47 years of service. He was an active member of the Retirees of Panama City Mill, serving as treasurer for 16 years. He was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as bookkeeper for 6 years and usher for over 30 years. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Martha Rigdon; two daughters, Lee Wood and husband, Greg, of Pensacola, Lynn Nordlinder and husband, Chris, of North Dakota; four grandsons, Jordan Wood, Hampton Wood, Curt Ward and wife, Javina, Bruce Ward and two great granddaughters, Kenzie Ward and Kendall Ward. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church of Panama City with Dr. Richard Watson officiating. Graveside services will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m. in Red Bay Cemetery in Red Bay, Florida. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5 – 7 p.m. and on Sunday at First Presbyterian Church from 1:30 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 1901 N Palafox Street, Pensacola, FL 32501 in memory of Robert L. Rigdon. The family wishes to thank the nurses and CNAs of the Delta Red Unit at Clifford Sims Veterans Home and Covenant Hospice. The family expressly thanks the sitters of Home Instead Senior Care.
