Robert "Bob" Pohlman, Sr., passed away on December 14, 2014. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, played high school football at West End High School in Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering. He was married to Sherrel Smith for 50 years, who preceded him in death in 2005. He was a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church, where he was involved in the United Methodist Men and held several positions in the church. He was also a member of the Panama City Country Club. Bob was an avid golfer and played every Wednesday for almost 30 years with his good friends, Rex Armstrong and Tom Muldowney. He loved football and his favorite saying was "War Eagle". One of his greatest joys in life was watching his grandchildren Kelsie, Blake and Brett grow up in Panama City. He was very insistent in his children getting their education. He was a wonderful singer and enjoyed singing the "old" Cokesbury hymns in church and in the shower. Bob was a great patriot and loved this country with a passion. He owned his own Real Estate Appraisal business on 23rd Street for 25+ years, and greatly enjoyed the business and the people he worked with. He fought a valiant flight with Parkinson's disease for over 15 years, and was a great inspiration to others with his spirit of optimism and hope for the future. He was an industrial engineer and an aerospace technologist. He was the youngest of 13 children, his father died when Bob was 4, leaving his mother (Nell) with a houseful of children. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Clara, Mary, Floyd, Jack "Jupe", Kathleen, Gay Nell, Marie, Bill and Harry. He is survived by his three children, Teresa Robin Pohlman, Robert Louis Pohlman, Jr., Kristin Jacks; three grandchildren, Brett Pohlman, Blake Pohlman, Kelsie Bibbs (Christopher); one great grandchild, Aerith Bibbs; one sister, Marilyn Joyce "Bunny" Burns; two brothers, Charles Pohlman, James Pohlman; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Friedman officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service.
