ROBERT HENRY MARCY
Robert Henry Marcy passed away on April 27, 2007 at his home in Panama City after an extended illness. He was born on October 10, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of the late John B. and Anna Marcy. After serving during WW II he attended the University of Toledo and graduated with a degree in civil engineering. He worked as a civilian
for the Air Force for over thirty years, first at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio and from 1972 until retirement at Tyndall AFB. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of Northern Light Masonic Lodge #40 in Ohio for over fifty years.
Mr. Marcy understood as few people do Thoreau's advice to step to one's own drummer. He was a man of patience, of honesty and principle, a musician in his heart whose life found its center in his deep love for his wife and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Jean Schwiebert and his nephew Peter Schwiebert. Survivors include his wife of fifty years Edith, son David and his wife Isolde, living in Hamburg, Germany and his daughter Debra Collins, her husband Thomas Collins and their daughter Annika Marcy Collins of Lynn Haven, as well as his brother-in-law Walter Schwiebert and his nephews John and Thomas Schwiebert.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 2, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1001 W 11th Street, Panama City.
