ROBERT E. LEE
Robert E. Lee, 99, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 after having lived a long, fulfilling life. He was born in Marianna, Florida to Maude Terry Lee and Henry Alexander Lee and lived with nine siblings, who are now all deceased. He was active in the Boy Scout activities and at age fourteen was one of the first in Jackson County to receive the coveted Eagle Scout Badge. Robert enjoyed sports in High School and was later employed by Daffin Wholesale Food Service. After two years, he was transferred to the Panama City Branch where he continued to work for fifty-six more years. In Panama City, Robert was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for 14 years. Robert was married to Mildred Pettus and later was the proud father of two boys, Jimmy and Gary. After 40 years being with Mildred, she passed away and sometime later Robert married Marie Sorrentino Waller and moved to Lynn Haven. He was a member of the Lynn Haven United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for a short period. Having been a member of Panama City Country Club for over 25 years, he enjoyed the fellowships and golf on the beautiful golf course most of that time. Robert has few regrets having lived a long, happy life. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Esther Kilpatrick, Hilda Thomas, Terry Lee, Christine Frasier, Frances Cobb, Juanita Cary, Evelyn Goldsmith, Albert Lee, Lucille Rooks; and one daughter by marriage, Karen Marie Waller.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Sorrentino Waller Lee; sons, Jimmy Lee (Martha) and Gary Lee (Jean); grandchildren, Jeff Lee (Donna), and Andy Lee (Kelli); and Kathy White; great grandchildren, Austin Lee, Victoria, Alexandra, and Alexis White; His children by marriage, Sharon Whaley (Joe); Bill Waller (Selina); grandchildren, Kristen Fields (Braxton), Kevin Whaley (Laura), Karen Lynn Waller, Lee Waller; and great-grandson, Mason Fields. He is also survived by first cousins, Alice Finch Lee and Nelle Harper Lee, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Lynn Haven United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 – 2 p.m. on Friday prior to the service.
Active pallbearers will be Jeff Lee, Andy Lee, Lee Waller, Kevin Whaley, Austin Lee, Craig Segrest. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Griffin, John Coleman, Larry Villars, Marvin McCain and the Friendship Sunday School Class of LHUMC.
