Robert (Bob) received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio in 1985 and was an avid sports fan of Ohio State. From 1985 until he retired from the base in 2017, Bob worked as a Research Electrical Engineer at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division (NSWC-PCD). Bob’s experience extended to vehicle development and operation to system design for various advanced mine countermeasure (MCM) sensor programs. As Project Engineer for the National Unmanned Systems Shared Resource Center (NUSSRC), his focus was on providing unmanned vehicles support for the advancement of unmanned system technology. Bob continued to work part-time after retiring as a contractor with Alion/Secor from 2017-2021 in the same field. In addition, Bob was an avid Ham Radio Operator from the age of 14. His call letters were WB8PAF. He served as President of Panama City Amateur Ham Radio Club (W4RYZ) from 2016-2024. Gary Bills, a fellow Ham Radio Operator and dear friend, enjoyed getting together to talk “shop” and solve the world’s problems. Jack Crusan and Bob were also great Ham radio friends and enjoyed “Glock matches” from time to time. His favorite pastime other than Ham radio, was doing puzzles while listening to Casey Kasam Top 40 songs of the 70’s.
