Robert ('Rob') Bentley Forbus

Rob Forbus passed peacefully on Sunday morning, August 27, 2023, and went home to be with his Lord.  He was surrounded by his loving family.

Rob was born on September 15, 1961, in Panama City, FL, to parents Robert Harold and Margaret Gaskin Forbus.  He is preceded in death by his parents.  Rob is survived by his wife, Angel Spurling Forbus, his stepsons James and Jared, his 'adopted' granddaughter Myah Smith, and his father- and mother-in-law Dee & Kathy Ridley.  He is also survived by his siblings Melinda Forbus Lane (Tommy) and Thomas Loren Forbus (Dena).  Rob is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rob's career was largely twofold: he worked in a variety of programs with the state of Florida for almost 30 years, but also enjoyed working part-time at Home Depot.  He loved being around and helping people.

Over the years, Rob served others through his participation in many organizations.  He worked as part of disaster relief groups all over Florida, and served on the board of Boys & Girls Club of Bay County.  Rob also served people through the Homeless and Hunger Coalition of NWFL, and through local search/rescue missions.  Whenever and wherever Rob sensed a need, he went.

Rob enjoyed a variety of activities, typically revolving around his family, his pets, and sci-fi/fantasy films & TV series.  He was always up for an adventure!

Rob's family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses/staff at HCA Gulf Coast, and especially to Ron Arnold, Rob's main caregiver at Vitas Healthcare.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Tuesday, August 29th, at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall (formerly the sanctuary), Panama City, where Rob was a member.  The family will receive visitors at 5pm, and a brief service will begin at 6pm.   In keeping with Rob's wishes, attendees are encouraged to dress in their jeans and their favorite college T-shirt.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to an account ('Rob Forbus') set up at Innovations Credit Union to help defray medical costs.
