ROBERT ERLAND ALLEN

Robert Erland "Bob" Allen, 80, of Panama City, died Thursday, January 24, 2008 in a local hospital. He was born on October 12, 1927 in Bowdoinham, Maine and had been a resident of Bay County since 1977. He was a retired Police Officer with the Metropolitan Police Dept in Washington, DC. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 6 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a Deacon Emeritus and member of the LLL Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Erland Allen, parents, Lithen and Elizabeth Bell Allen, brother, Herb Allen and sister, Helen Hanson. He is survived by his wife, Mavis Allen, son, Tim Allen, both of Panama City, siblings, Fannie Hanson, Rose Almy, Wilbur Allen, Lillian Walker and husband Maurice, Betty Brown, Marilyn Haskell, Madeline Allen, Charles Allen and wife Gail, Lorraine Allen, Carolyn Hartill and husband David, all of Maine, sisters-in-law, Lois Galloway and husband Richard, Ann Van Zant and husband Leon, of Panama City, Carol Boland and husband Raymond, of DeFuniak Springs, FL, and brother-in-law, Alto Straughn and wife Patrecia of Gainesville, FL and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Panama City with Rev. Bill Sears officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 – 2 p.m. prior to the service.
