Richard Allen Strickland
Richard Allen Strickland of Inverness, FL passed away in his home on Saturday, March 10, 2007. He was born in Panama City, FL on December 14, 1945 and grew up in St. Andrews while attending Bay County Schools. He was employed in the air conditioning and heating business for many years and owned his own company for several years. He loved gardening, being outdoors and his favorite past-time was fishing. Some of his children's fondest memories include his wonderful ability to whistle like a songbird. He was preceded in death by his father L.D. Strickland and his younger sister Lydia Hughes. He is survived by his wife, Marlene; and mother, Evelyn; children Richard A. Strickland, II, Teri Henry and husband Robert, Evelyn Hogan and husband Wayne, James David Strickland; Grandchildren Caitlyn and Andrew Hogan; brother, Jerry Strickland and wife Wanda; and sister, Gayle Hardy; He is also survived by his mother in law Irene Taylor, sister in laws, Mary Knight and Helen Hensley and brother in laws, Charles Giddens and Johnny Giddens. In addition, he is survived by many nieces and nephews and other family members. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 14 at 10:30 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Larry Wade officiating. Interment will follow in Bayou George Cemetery, Panama City, FL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
