IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard "Rick"
Lee Snell
June 1, 1955 – March 4, 2021
Richard Lee "Rick" Snell, 65, was born June 1, 1955 in Panama City, Florida and died of cancer March 4, 2021 in Jacksonville, Florida. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 24 years, Joyce Bauer Snell, son, Andrew Snell, grandchildren, A.J. & Zoey Snell, and sister, Hazel Snell Littlejohn. He was preceded in death by parents, J.C. and Ruby Snell, who adopted Ricky at birth, and brother, the Reverend Dr. Jack Snell, and infant brother James Snell. He graduated from Rutherford High School in 1973. While living in Panama City, he worked at Arizona Chemical. In Jacksonville, he was employed with Sungard until having to retire on disability in 2017 due to severe COPD. He was a deacon at Henricks Avenue Baptist Church. He and Joyce were also actively involved in a church plant. After retiring, he and Joyce moved to Westminster Woods, a Continuing Care Retirement Community, where he became an avid and gifted photographer taking thousands of incredible shots of the moon and wildlife. His photographs have been displayed and received honorable mention in contests. Rick and Joyce met in AA and are still active members. Rick has been alcohol and drug free for 28 years and Joyce for 32 years. Rick was a friend to everyone and was always up for conversation and a good laugh. He will be deeply missed by family and friends but will remain in our hearts, always. A celebration of life will be held in Jacksonville at a later date.
