Richard (Rick) Gantly, 65, died on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at home, with Ginny, his wife, and his cat, Calico, by his side.
He and Ginny had lived in Panama City for the last 13 years.
Rick was involved in social justice, anti - racist and union movements for most of his life. As a high school student, he was active in the civil rights movement and opposed the war in Vietnam.
He was active in his union while working for many years for the American Commercial Barge Lines and later for the U.S. Postal Service.
He campaigned for Barack Obama and Bernie Sanders in recent presidential election campaigns.
He leaves his wife, Ginny; his son, Mitchell; his siblings, Linda, Diana and Jeff; and many devoted friends around the country.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Humane Society of Bay County or the Panama City Hurricane Relief Fund.
