Obituary

Richard “Dick” Hall passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026 in Panama City Beach, Florida, with his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Christine “Chris” Hall, by his side.

Dick was born on July 25, 1935, in Gary, Indiana, to Charlotte DeVolt and Harold “Hal” Hall. He spent most of his life in Downers Grove, Illinois, where his life was centered around family, hard work, and the simple pleasures he loved.

Throughout his career, Dick worked more than 40 years as a Switch Tender with Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad in Cicero, Illinois. Earlier in life Dick worked for Pepperidge Farm and Belmont Nursery in Downers Grove, Illinois. He also worked at Hall’s Disposal with his father Hal in Sarasota County, Florida. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to lend a helping hand.

Early in their marriage Dick and Chris enjoyed training dogs together and owned Border Terriers for many years. They built a life filled with companionship, laughter, and their faith.

Dick graduated from Downers Grove Community High School (North) in 1954. In retirement, he enjoyed attending classic car shows, metal detecting and fishing. He appreciated life’s quieter moments and cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.

Dick is lovingly remembered by his wife, Chris Hall; his daughters Heather Ann (Richard) Mansell and K.C. Hall; his sister Sandra Augsburg; his brother, Kenneth (Tamara) Hall; his sister, Marj Phillips; his grandchildren Karen (Greg) Perrin, Derrick (Jenna) Hall, and Beth (Josh) Lucky; and his great-grandchildren, Dillan Perrin, Gabriel and Jonah Hall; his beloved grand dog Farley.

Dick was preceded in death by his son Kyle Hall, his mother, Charlotte DeVolt, his father Hal Hall; his step mother, Olivia Hall; his sister Janet Snyder; brother-in-law Kent Phillips.

Dick will be missed but he is with our Lord and Savior Jesus in heaven and although this life is short it is just “goodbye for now” until we meet again.
