RICHARD CARPENTER
Richard Carpenter, 93, of Panama City, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at a local hospital. He was born on April 3, 1914 in Dorchester, Massachusetts. In 1933, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he was assigned as a radio striker. During his Navy career, he served aboard the U.S.S. WYOMING, U.S.S. MALLARD, U.S.S PLEIADES, U.S.S. WORCHESTER, U.S.S. RODCHESTER, U.S.S. LAKE CHAMPLAIN and U.S.S. DONNER. After retiring from the Navy, he went to work as a voice radio operator with Border Patrol Headquarters in Miami. He was a member of Hiland Park Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Carpenter and son, Richard Carpenter. He is survived by his seven children, Joanna L. Lindsey, Robert W. Carpenter, Gladys H. Sherrer, Dorothy A. Cogswell, Stanley F. Carpenter, Janice A. Carpenter and Margaret E. Carpenter, close friends, Donald B. and Betty Everett, Sr., 19 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Pickerill officiating. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the Hiland Park Baptist Church Building Fund.
