Recer M. Tidwell, 94, of Panama City, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014. He was born on December 1, 1919 in Dothan, Alabama to William C. & Virgie Tidwell. He worked for the International Paper Company for 28 years, retiring in 1984. During World War II, he built Liberty Ships at Sherman Shipyard. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Callaway since 1977, where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Exciting Seniors Singers. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Tidwell and Wilmer Tidwell. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Pauline Houston Tidwell; two sons, Jerome Tidwell and wife Sandi, Darrell Tidwell and wife Julie; five grandchildren, Jeremy Tidwell and wife Patti, Ragan Tidwell and wife Rhonda, Lindsay Adkins and husband Daniel, Rachel Griffin and husband Mark, John Tidwell and fiancé Abbie Curti; eleven great grandchildren, Keelan, Riley Kate, Brody, Isabella, Zoe Kate, Olivia, Savanna, Jordan, Khia, Justice, Leah; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at the First Baptist Church of Callaway. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m. Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Tidwell, Ragan Tidwell, Daniel Adkins, Mark Griffin, John Tidwell and Ronnie Tidwell. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Callaway and Norman Todd. Those desiring may make memorial donations to Covenant Hospice, 107 W 19 th Street, Panama City, FL 32405 or to the First Baptist Church of Callaway, 6930 E Highway 22, Callaway, FL 32404 in memory of Recer Tidwell.
