RAY ROBERT FRANKLIN

Ray Robert Franklin, 77, of Panama City Beach, died January 1, 2009 in a local hospital. He was born September 30, 1931 in Vaucluse, South Carolina to Ray & Helen Franklin. He served in the United States Navy for 22 years retiring at the rank of Chief Boatswain Mate. After retiring from the Navy, he continued his career at the Navy Base for 28 years working on research vessels. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Lee Franklin and his parents. He is survived by ten children, Leo Franklin, Kenneth Robert Franklin, Kenneth Allen Franklin, Joyce Ann Tucker, Carol Husbands, Cheryl Corbin, Tammy Williams, Patty Wilke, Donna Skinner, Summer Parsons, brother, James Herman Franklin and sister, Joyce Franklin Johnson, 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He also had a grandchild who had been very close to him these last few years, Lee Parsons. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Luther officiating. Interment will follow in Lynn Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. Monday prior to the service. Those desiring may make contributions to the charity of your choice in memory of Ray Robert Franklin. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Dean and Dr. McKenzie for their excellent care. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons.
