Obituary

Philip Ansley Colvin

Mr. Philip Ansley Colvin, 46, died on August 7, 2021. Born on November 21, 1974, to Keith and Alice Colvin, he was a life-long resident of Bay County, FL. Philip worked diligently for the Hilton family as the Vice President of Marketing and IT. He was predeceased by his grandparents: Irma and Lester Colvin, Ruth and Freddie Powers.

Philip was a loving and dedicated son, brother, husband, and a nurturing father, being known in his family as the foundation upon which they could all rely. Through the mentorship of his parents, he was a respectful and talented man. A gifted athlete, Philip played football for Mowat Middle School and A. Crawford Mosley High School. He also earned numerous accolades in multiple sports and academics, until graduation in the year 1993. In the year 1999, Philip married the love of his life Andrea, who provided him with four sons. From this point, he was paramount in the development of his children's lives, teaching them patience and love. Together Philip and Andrea created a beautiful life for their family to grow and flourish, through hard times and good times.

As a father, he was his children's role model and advocate, creating the stepping-stones for them to follow. Philip enjoyed being out on the water with his family, so much so that he called his boat the "4CSons" after his four boys.  He also enjoyed teaching his four boys how to be men. He loved to teach sports and assisted in starting the Lynn Haven Storm youth football team and was its football commissioner.

From a young age, Philip enjoyed learning and teaching practical and technical skills he had acquired throughout his life to friends and family. Starting with teaching his younger brother the basics of everything from landscaping to water-skiing and continuing with his growing knowledge of technology and various skills needed to accomplish repairs in his family's home after Hurricane Michael. Philips's love and appreciation of music was unparalleled and ever-growing; his family was always amazed at the songs he found that they would otherwise never have heard.

He worked under the Hiltons for 26 years, distinguishing himself from tending to children in guest activities, all the way to becoming the Vice President of Marketing and IT for Hilton Inc. While Philip never sought credit for his efforts, he was an advocate and supporter for multiple charitable organizations in his community.

Philip was a kind, generous, and selfless man, and he loved his community as if they were his own family. In his final days, Philip continued to help others by endorsing the Covid-19 vaccination. While in the hospital, Philip would tell everyone who would listen to get the vaccine because he believed that no one should ever have to suffer through this terrible illness the way he and his family have. The family asks that anyone wishing to show support for Philip and his family get the vaccine in lieu of flowers.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Andrea, his sons Chase Sapp (Lily), Calan Sapp (Jocelyn), Chandler Colvin, Cameron Colvin, parents Keith and Alice Colvin, brother Scott Colvin (Briana), and grandson Caden Sapp, as well as six aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins.
