Obituary

"Like all great travelers, I have seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen" _ Benjamin Disraeli

The world lost a great traveler and unique soul on April 9, 2015, when Peter William Walton Hitchcock lost his valiant battle with illness. Born on April 27th, 1948, to Charles and Joan Hitchcock, Peter is survived by his sister Cheryl Brown (Ron). Peter will also be fondly remembered by his nieces: Sharon Michalik (John), Joanne Mallary (Michael), Tamsin Andreozzi (George) and Becky Marolla (Brandon), nephew Chad Brown (Rachel) and his great nieces and nephews Kathryn, Zack, Alexander, Adriana, Gage, Chloe, Sofie, Vivianna and Dash.

Born in Wales, Peter led an interesting life that included travel, and living, in many exotic locations. As a child he moved from Wales to Persia and then to South Africa and then to Northern Ireland. After completing Officer Cadet School, Peter was commissioned with the Coldstream Guards and spent seven years flying helicopters for the Army Air Corps. After two years in the South African Air Force, he joined the Sultan of Oman's Air Force from 1979-1989. After traveling the world and thrilling his nieces with tales of far-off places, Peter returned to England as a consultant for Channel Tunnel rail link project. Peter relocated to Panama City in 1998 to join his mother and sister.

Making friends wherever he went, Peter will be missed far beyond the confines of Panama City Beach. The family will be hosting a private Celebration of Life service at a later date but in the meantime Peter would wish that his friends and loved ones would hoist a beer in his memory while singing one of the bawdy old Rugby songs he loved. In his memory, in lieu of flowers, Peter asked that his friends consider making donations to the Children's Bereavement Camp "I Believe" coordinated by Emerald Coast Hospice.
