Dr. Childer's childhood was spent on the "Dean Ridge", KY, Jamestown, TN., Cincinnati, OH and Monticello, KY. He said his love of learning and education came from these experiences and especially his father who told him to get all of the education you can. A BA from the Univ. of KY, A MA and EdD from the UN of GA showed he listened.
His life's work a lic. Psychologist, Assoc. Professor at UK, Univ. of Wisconsin, Univ.of FL, Deputy Supt. EDN State off LA, published author in the field as well as employment with the Federal government in Atl. GA. He was listed in the 1991 Who's Who in the World. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He loved classic cars, fishing, boating and sports, and bled blue for UK "GO CATS".
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Leva and his canine children, Tulip, Robbie and birth canine Lulu Resmondo. Survivors are his wife and best friend, Joyce I. Childers, special daughter, Leva Talton and grandsons, Little D and Devin; Three other children, Bill, Rick and Linda and their six children. Two sisters, a brother and a host of in-laws, some outlaws and other relatives and friends. Each were special to him. Canine child Bay Boy and the other four birth canines brought so much joy and happiness to him.
At his request, no services are planned. Donations may be made to the Bay County Humane Society or the PC Rescue Mission. A heartfelt thanks to his doctors, Dr. Dent and Dr. Wadhera and the Bay Medical MICU staff, especially Theresa for their care during his three week stay.
