Percy S. "Scotty" Cotton Jr., 74, of Panama City, passed from this world to his eternal home on Sunday, October 26, 2014. Scotty was born in Panama City to Percy & Lucile Cotton. Scotty was a graduate of Bay High School and attended Gulf Coast Junior College. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve. Scotty worked for the Army Corps of Engineers and retired from the Naval Coastal System Station in 1995. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and dancing.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; two sisters, Peggy Cotton Malone, Gayle Cotton Murphy (John); brother, Charles C. Cotton (Carol); three stepdaughters, Kim Sapp Smith (Mike), Allison Sapp Schmitz, Jenifer Morris Bergert (Mark); stepson, Brad Darden (Ashley); seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Morris Denman officiating. Active pallbearers are Richard McNeil, Robert Padgett, Terry Mayne, Danny Freeman, Roger Bush and Marshall Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Pete Thompson, Don Hendrix, Rich Hernandez, Jimmy Gainer, Eddie Shannon and Bunny Weaver. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made in Scotty's name to the Alzheimer's Association of North Florida.
