Peggy Jane Dickson of Panama City, Florida, passed away at her home on Thursday, October 24, 2024 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Peggy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City. She attended Sunday School, BTU and was a member of the Youth Choir. She enjoyed music especially traditional Christian hymns. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Ryals and Elizabeth (Betty) Dickson and a beloved niece, Lisa Adams. In her later years she was a devoted caregiver for her mother. She is survived by her sisters, Nan Dickson Register of Cypress, Texas, and Dianne (Larry) Dickson Ferrell of Woodstock, GA; nephews, Rev. Hugh (Elizabeth) Ansley of Cypress, Texas, and Dr. Michael (Adrienne) Ferrell of Roswell, GA; cousins, Elexis Ansley, Katie (Stephen) Ansley Metzner, Rylie Metzner, Benjamin Ansley, Michael Ansley, Jack Ferrell, Max Ferrell, Halle Ferrell, Mason Ferrell, Marcus Ferrell and Miles Ferrell. Peggy attended/graduated from Panama Grammer, Jinks Jr. High, Bay High, Gulf Coast, Armstrong State and is a graduate of the GPSTC in Savannah, GA. She worked in Law Enforcement for 30 plus years as a Police Officer and then a Deputy Sheriff. Peggy retired from the Chatham County Sheriff's Department in Savannah, GA. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and a lover of animals especially canines. The family Doberman was her "Buddy". Peggy was of a strong Christian faith and a supporter of the Billy Graham Foundation, Pathway To Victory, Turning Point, The Florida Deputy Sheriff's Boys Ranch, The American Cancer Society and the Crippled Children's Foundation. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in memory of Peggy. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors and the staff of Vitas, especially Nurse Cathy. Dr. Weber, nurses and staff of Florida Cancer Affiliates, family members and friends who were so supportive with their thoughts and many prayers. A special thank you to cousin, Angela Cox Justice. A graveside service with immediate family was held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Dr. Michael Ferrell of Roswell, GA, officiating.
