Paul H. Weeks

Paul H. Weeks, 81, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2008. A former resident of Panama City, Paul was born January 19, 1926 in Decatur, GA. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Anne G. Weeks, and son Paul H. Weeks Jr of Jacksonville and daughter Paula Anne Weeks of Smyrna, GA. Other surviving relatives include nephew Wickham R. Carter III (Robin) of Atlanta, grand nephew Daniel Carter, grand niece Hala Carter, sister- in- law Jane G. Becker of Panama City and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul A. and Annie Laurie Weeks, and sister Ruth Weeks Carter.

Paul graduated from Robert E. Lee in Jacksonville and attended the University of Florida where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He served with the 3051st Army Air Corps as a flight training cadet during WWII and was discharged in 1945.

He began his career with Southern Bell in 1947 and by 1954 was relocated to Panama City as one of the youngest managers in Florida. He made significant contributions to the company's development in the Panhandle and was referred to by the community and employees as Mr. "PC." He was transferred to Jacksonville in 1967 where he represented Southern Bell as the Loaned Executive for United Way. He held numerous roles in Public Relations/Marketing and retired after 40 years of dedicated service.

Paul was a civic leader in Panama City, and as a member of the Chamber of Commerce served on the Committee of 100 and the Military Affairs committee. He was the Commodore of the St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club, Secretary of the Rotary Club and a member of the Elks Club. He also was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, and devoted much of his time in support of the Boy Scouts of America.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, One Intrepid Square, West 46th Street and 12th Avenue, New York, NY 10036 or the charity of your choice.
