James Paul Thomas, 73, of Panama City Beach, FL passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Martha Thomas. Paul is survived by his wife, Sheila Thomas; two sons, Brad Thomas (Jami), Jay Thomas (Kaitlin); two grandchildren, Sullivan Thomas, Capri Thomas; one sister, Sherrie Baker (Bill).
Paul was born on January 5, 1948 in Durham, North Carolina. Paul grew up in Columbus, GA and graduated from Columbus High School in 1966. He served in the Army National Guard, attended Andrew College, and then graduated from Columbus College with a degree in business administration. Paul went on to have a long career, retiring from United Distributors where he worked as their VP/General Manager.
After retiring, Paul and Sheila moved from Albany, GA to Panama City Beach, FL in order to spend time with their grandchildren. Paul became a member of the Bay Point Yacht Club where he served on the board for three years, and also joined the Mardi Gras Krewe of Dominque Youx. He enjoyed quail hunting, sitting on the beach, being stubborn, always being right, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family who loved him very much.
Paul attended Holy Nativity Episcopal Church in Panama City, FL. Services will be held there on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 2:00 PM. A celebration of life will follow afterwards at the Bay Point Yacht Club.
