Obituary

Paul Clenen Bishop, 73, of Panama City, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014. He was born on May 8, 1941 in New York City, New York to Paul R. & Nelle Bishop. Paul loved the United States Navy and dedicated his entire working and professional life to contributing to its missions and objectives. Four and a half years of active duty and then continuing in the Reserves, Paul ultimately retired from the Naval Reserve as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 with 30 years of commissioned service. Simultaneously with his military service, he served 35 years as a Federal Civilian Electrical Engineer with the Department of the Navy, retiring in 1998 with over 40 years combined military and civilian service. But, Paul never used the word retired. Never. He wasn't finished-he immediately formed his own small engineering firm, the Bishop Group, Inc. and for the next 16 years the bulk of his company's efforts continued to involve the U.S. Navy and Department of Defense. He was also a Senior Member of IEEE, and founding chair of its Marine Systems Coordinating Committee. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Sagester Bishop; children, Kimberly Bishop, Bradley Bishop, and their mother, Barbara Jean Bond Bishop; daughter-in-love, Kelly Wolcott (Seth); daughter, Monique White; two grandchildren, Amber Bayer (boyfriend Richard Behm), Samantha Bishop; great grandson, Ty Bayer; sister, Nelle "Tina" Quirk (Jim); and nephews, Jimmy (Lisa), Dennis (Laura) and Kevin (Jennifer) Quirk. Funeral services will held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 4 – 5 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. A funeral mass will be held at 8 a.m. on Friday at the St. John Catholic Church. A graveside service will be held on Friday at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Florida. Those desiring, may make memorial donations to St. John Catholic Church, 1008 Fortune Avenue, Panama City, FL 32401, or in support of organ donation through lifenethealth.org.
