Patricia Jones Knowles, a Panama City native, died peacefully at home on Thursday, Dec. 12, surrounded by her family.
The epitome of a gracious southern lady, Patsy will be missed more than words can say.
She was born in Panama City on September 14, 1936, the daughter of Edgar L. Jones and Alma Williams Jones. Patsy grew up in The Cove and attended Cove Elementary School and Bay High School. In 1955, she married her high school sweetheart Danny Knowles and raised their son, Chuck.
Though the couple lived in numerous cities from Florida to Washington, Patsy's magazine-worthy flower gardens were a constant. An artist, Patsy specialized in plants and watercolor but loved arts of all kinds. She enjoyed ceramics so much she and a friend opened their own shop, The Ceramic Trap, in Big Pine Key.
But Patsy loved her family more and returned to Panama City when her grandsons arrived. She was a loving mother, mother-in-law and grandmother and played an active role in the lives of her family and friends.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy Jones Cannon, husband Charles D. Knowles, and an infant son Miles Knowles. She is survived by her son Charles D. Knowles, Jr. and wife Barbara, her two grandsons Charles D. Knowles, III, and James R. Knowles; nephew Richard Cannon and niece Laurie Cannon.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan 11 at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church followed immediately by a reception celebrating Patsy's life.
The family would like to thank her excellent caregivers Kathy, Dianna, Alexis and all the nursing staff, social workers and Chaplain Conrad Meadows at Emerald Coast Hospice.
