Senior M/Sgt (USAF Retired) Orville Gene (John) Northcutt, 88, a native of Lexington, Oklahoma, but a longtime resident of Panama City, FL left us for a better world on June 2, 2014. He served 28.5 years in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in numerous countries including Turkey and Germany. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in Bien Hoa, Pleiku and DaNang in 1966. He was also stationed in Joplin, Mo, Charlevoix, Mi. and Berea, Ky before retiring from Tyndall AFB, FL. Over the process of his military career he was awarded numerous medal and awards.
As a husband, father, father in law and grandfather, he will be greatly missed, but he will remain forever with us in spirit. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was always quick with a joke and a good laugh.
Mr. Northcutt was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Jessie Northcutt, brothers, W.C, Alton, Don, Ellis and James; sisters, Aline Kienlen and Louise Wilson. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret Eddins Northcutt; daughters, Rhonda Hyler (Larry) and Kathy Pons; son, Steven Northcutt (Felicia), grandchildren, Jenna Hughes (Eddie), Chad Northcutt, and Jacob Pons, and his youngest brother Jude Northcutt.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Curt Davis officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1 to 2:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, prior to the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Emerald Coast Hospice or Bay County Humane Society in memory of John Northcutt.
