Opal Herndon O'Neal, 93, of Panama City, FL passed away Tuesday May 9, 2017. She was born October 25, 1923, to the late Wesley and Inez Herndon in Clarksville, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Fred O'Neal; two brothers, Earl and Boyd Herndon; four sisters, Jewel Smith, Laryce Koenig, Inez Spikes, and Violet Jones. She was an active member of the Millville Advent Christian Church, member and past president of the W.H.F.M. Society, member and past Royal Matron of the Order of the Amaranths. Opal loved sewing, crochet and most of all going to Wewa to her fish camp. She is survived by one son, Freddie O'Neal; one daughter, Brenda Bell; step daughter, Barbara Dodson (Bobby); Grandchildren, Marsha Adkins (Chris), Stacy McGonagil (John), Trey Bell, Michelle Helms, Clay O'Neal and Rob Dodson; Great grandchildren, Lane and Sydney Adkins, L.B. and Cole Bell and Claylee O'Neal. She is also survived by one brother, H.V. Herndon (Joan); one sister, Doris Mayo; numerous nieces and nephews who were very special to her; very special friends who were like family, Donald Bruner and Mike and Lindsey Waits and their children Blake and Brylee. The family would like to thank Dr. Tim Smith for all his care and concern for Opal the last 40 plus years. Pallbearers are Larry Lemieux, Tommy Spikes, Rick Spikes, Greg Mayo, Kenny Smith, James Keel, Jeff Herndon, Clarence Hand and Jim Murdock. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 am in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11 am prior to the service. Those desiring may donate to the Herndon Cemetery Fund, P.O.
