OLAN HOWARD CANINGTON
Olan Howard Canington, 79, of Lynn Haven, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2007 in a local hospital. He was born on January 12, 1928 in Youngstown, Florida. He was a lifelong resident of Port St. Joe. He retired from the St. Joe Paper Co. in 1993 and moved to Lynn Haven in 1993 after retirement. He was very active in the Highland View Assembly of God and the Lynn Haven Church of God. He joined the Navy at 17 years old and served one term. He was a devoted husband to Lillian for 48 years and a wonderful father and grandfather to all of his children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Gertrude Canington, wife, Lillian Wilson Canington, and brother, Gene Canington. He is survived by his daughter, Pat Scott and her husband, Winston, of Lynn Haven, three sons, James Canington and his wife, Patti, of Fort Worth, Texas, Lavon Canington and his wife, Tammy, of Port St. Joe, Donald Wayne Canington, and wife, Brenda, of Largo, Florida, and daughter, Teresa Orozco and her husband, Carlos, of Lynn Haven, brother, BF Canington and his wife, Faye, sisters, Janice Gross, Nell Jensen and her husband, Robert, grandchildren, Cathy, Larry, Debbie, Michael, Jason, Felisha, Jeremy, Jamie, Brian, Travis, Sabrina, Amy, Andrew, Angela, Joey, Cheryl, Wayne, James, Venice and Rique, 27 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Lynn Haven Church of God with Rev. Gene Smith and Rev. Jean Shoots officiating. Interment will follow in Lynn Haven Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Lynn Haven Church of God. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff of Bay Medical Center, 3rd Floor MICU, for their kindness and care of our father with special thanks to Andrea, Mac, Tina and Steven. The family will be at the home of Pat Scott, 1304 Texas Avenue in Lynn Haven.
