Obituary

Norman Kenneth "Kent" Freeman, 67, of Panama City, FL passed away on Tuesday June 14, 2016. He was born July 29, 1948 to Norman James and Dean Shelley Freeman in Columbus, GA. Kent was a self-employed business man who owned and operated Marathon Glass and Mirror in Lawrenceville, GA, where he and his family resided for 25 years prior to moving back to Panama City. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his beach bum friends. He was a Vietnam Naval Veteran serving on USS Ticonderoga. Kent was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula, GA. He is preceded in death by his father, Norman J. Freeman of Panama City, FL; and grandmother, Ada Freeman of Columbus, GA. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Dorris Hill Freeman; two daughters, Suzanne Freeman Pierce (Tyson Duncan) of Loganville, GA, Shelley Freeman Meeks (Kyle Meeks) of Bethlehem, GA; mother, Dean Freeman Ridley; brother, Aaron Freeman both of Panama City, FL; four grandchildren, Caleb Kenneth Pierce, Christi Ann Tobiasz, Kenneth Anthony Tobiasz, Cody James Tobiasz; brother and sister in law, Grady and Margaret McDaniel, Hays and Barbara Hill. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 am in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with longtime friends, David Rhule and Frank McKinney officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, brother and sons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be Dink & Lynn Mills, Craig & Judy Osborne, Tim & Linda Jennings, John & Gayle Murphy, Cy & Gail Lisenby, Freddie & Charlotte Roberts, Gene Melvin, Milton & Tekla Sheffield, Kenny & Sally Davis, Frank & Renee Kingsley, David & Carol Parker, Hershel & Maryann Rich, Keith Petty & Eva Sasser, and Mike & Jackie Weaver, all members of the Dekalb Bass Club and the Bay High School Class of 1967. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to ALS Worldwide, 5808 Dawley Drive, Fitchburg, WI 53711-7209 , www.alsworldwide.org/ways-to-help to help find a cure and treatment for ALS patients around the world.
