Obituary

Norman Paul Gross Jr. was called home unexpectedly, yet peacefully, to be with his Lord and Savior October 1, 2020.  Norman was a devoted father and exceptional friend to so many. Born June 29, 1946 in Panama City, Florida, he was the son of the late Norman Paul Gross, Sr., and Berniece Elizabeth Gross.

Norman graduated from Bay High School in 1964.  After high school commencement, he served 9 years in the Army National Guard. During that time, he attended and graduated from University of Florida where he received, in 1972, his bachelor's degree in architecture.  He then joined his fathers' architectural practice in Panama City. For over 30 years, Norman designed numerous residential and commercial buildings in Northwest Florida. Highlights of his career were the Latter-Day Saints Churches, Lynn Haven Library, Panama Country Club, Bay County School Board Administration Office, Panama City Housing Authority and the GCSC North Bay Campus, just to name a few. He later joined LBB Engineering as the President of the Architectural Division in Clermont, FL.  Fifteen years later with copious projects in Central Florida, Norman retired and moved back to his hometown. Normans love of architecture, eye for detail and prudence of codes allowed him to design and enhance buildings and residences across the state.

Throughout his life, the love of fishing, hunting, his Alma Mater the Florida Gators and passing on tidbits of "useless information" made the ones he loved cherish the time spent with him.  His passion for nature taught his family and friends the true meaning of being the hunter and gatherer for his family. The love and expertise he shared will be passed on for generations.

Norman is predeceased by his sister Ferol Jean Gross. Norman is survived by his two daughters Ashley Brooke, husband Johnny and Allison Lindsay and his blonde bombshell Khaki.  Norman touched and molded countless lives.

A special thanks for his unending friendships from his two brothers from another mother, Malcolm Lindley and Michael Varner.

In honor of his request, there will be no memorial service. To share your stories, fellowship, food and condolences of Norman, a Celebration on Life will be held under the Oaks at Boon Docks Restaurant, Saturday October 10, 2020 at 11am-2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Panhandle Gator Club Scholarship Fund P.O. Box 1503 Panama City, FL 32402.
