Norma Lucille Carr McMurry, 84, of Lynn Haven, FL passed away on Wednesday January 25, 2017.
She was born on October 12, 1932 in Sulphur, OK, to Elmer G. and Vesta J. (Mink) Carr. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and lived her life according to her faith. She was a member of City Church at Northside for the last 42 years. She taught Sunday School for over 55 years, teaching every age from children to senior adults. She also worked in Vacation Bible School annually, cooked for youth retreats and events, and led home Bible studies. She loved to study the Bible and was known for her extensive knowledge of scripture. She served with an open heart and built lasting relationships throughout her life. She raised a family and performed countless acts of service over the years with love, from cooking meals to helping with school events. She helped elderly friends and neighbors with errands, checking on them, and reading to them. She cared for many children and was always ready to play right along beside them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Thomas and James Carr, and sisters June Vernon and Cathy McNeil. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Carl McMurry; daughter, Susan Akula and her husband George; son, Kenneth McMurry and his wife Sheree; brother, Michael Carr and his wife Jackie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Wednesday February 1, 2017, at 10 am in the City Church at Northside. The family will receive friends at the church from 9-10 am prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to City Church Youth or Children's programs.
