Noel Jerome (Jerry) Engwall

Jerry Engwall, Spicer, Minnesota native, Willmar graduate, son of the late Carl and Ruby Engwall, died unexpectedly at his winter residence at Panama City, Florida, on January 11, at the age of 75. Jerry attended St. Cloud State College and Columbia University, focusing on the field of math education. His teaching career began in the Anoka School system at Coon Rapids Junior High and he completed a thirty year career in the Minnetonka School system, first in junior high math and later in the high school work study program. Jerry will also be remembered fondly as "Coach" for the many years spent developing programs in swimming, tennis and wrestling, as well as "Ref" for a lengthy time as a high school and college football and wrestling referee.

Jerry is survived by Lynne Gorlinsky and two sons, Michael (Julie) Engwall of Robbinsdale, Minnesota, and Peter Engwall of Kirkland, Washington, and stepson Jim Gorlinsky (Barbara) of Fairfax, Virginia, as well as grandchildren Lauren, Johnathan and August Engwall and step-grandchildren Nick and Sam Gorlinsky. He is predeceased by his parents and sister Karen Engwall Carlson. Jerry is also survived by a nephew and many cousins. His family, life long friends, colleagues, neighbors and former students from the Minnetonka area will miss him greatly.
