Nadine Horton Brown "Grandma Surf", 89, of Panama City Beach, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018. She was born October 7, 1928 in Gadsden, Alabama. She graduated from Jacksonville State University in 1950 with a Major in Physical Education and a Minor in Science. She was a member of the Cheerleading squad, the Fast Pitch Softball team and the Swim and Diving Board team. She got her Master's degree in Teaching in 1960. She was the owner of the Surf Hut from 1975 to 1988. She was a partner at Mr. Surf Surf Shop with her son David. Her favorite hobby was to read a good book. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Clarence Brown; father, Ervin Odas Horton; mother, Christine Allman Horton; and two brothers, Marvin O'Neal Horton and Joseph Edward Horton. She is survived by two sons, Cy Brown, David Brown; sister, Frances Horton Spurlock; brother, Jerry Horton (Joan); granddaughters, Frankie Brown (Ian Rush), Brandi Brown Albert (Michael); great- grandchildren, Loretta Mary Albert, Mylan Joseph, Malina Marie Albert and Azzlee Ama Brown, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Gulf Beach Baptist Church with Rev. Gregory George officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 12:30 p.m.-2 p.m. prior to the service. Active pallbearers are Justin Buxton, Jordan Buxton, Chance Mills, Brandon Mills, Mark Thomas and Rick Zion. Honorary pallbearers are Marvin Glasgow and Brandon Marolla. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to New Horizons Learning Center Mentor Program, Attn: Margaret Tidmore, 3200 Minnesota Ave., Panama City, FL 32405 or to John Croyle with the Big Oak Ranch, P.O.
