Muriel Leonard Watson, 91, of Panama City, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016.  She was born November 17, 1924 in Sullivan, Indiana to Everett & Ida Mae Leonard.  At the age of 1, she moved with her family to NW Florida.  After graduating from Tate High School in Cantonment, FL, in 1942, the family moved to Cottondale, FL, where she met and married Autice Watson on April 28, 1946.  In 1957, after moving around Alabama for several years, they moved to Panama City where they raised their children.  She had been an active member of Hiland Park Baptist Church for 58 years.  Muriel was an excellent homemaker, seamstress, gardener and cook, winning numerous awards and prizes in various contests and fairs.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Lowell, Gerald and baby Leonard. She is survived by her husband of 70 1/2 years, Houston Autice Watson; four children, Linda Mix (John); Carol Hegler, Rick Watson (Betty); David Watson (Stacey); ten grandchildren, Jetaime Walsingham (Brian); John G. Mix (Amy); Daniel Mix (Kristy); Benjamin Hegler (Kimberly); Rebecca Pickern (Josh); Cole Boyette, Alex Watson, Kyle Watson, Brad Watson, Eric Watson; seven great grandchildren, Nolan Walsingham, Gabriel Walsingham, Michael Mix, Daniel Mix, Caleb Mix, Abigail Mix and Zackary Hegler.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Hiland Park Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Fondren and Dr. Thomas Kinchen officiating.  The family will receive friends at the Wilson Funeral Home on 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday.  Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Methodist Cemetery, in Cottondale, FL.  Active pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.
