MONT EARL GILLIS

Mont Earl Gillis of the Cove, Panama City, Florida was born in Dover, Delaware, March 4, 1971. At 18, he was diagnosed with M. Leukemia and at 19 had a bone marrow transplant on October 11, 1991. He was heavenly welcomed on September 26, 2012 by his predeceased maternal grandfather, Harland Earl Schulz; his paternal grandparents, Helen M. and Frederick L. Gillis; uncles: Robert and Fred Gillis (MA); plus aunts, uncles and friends. He is survived by his mother, Kathleen Gillis and father, Lt. Col. Bill Gillis (Ret. A.F.); grandmother, Eleanor Cecelia Sylwanowicz Schulz of CO; five siblings, Thor W. Gillis (Janice) of CA, Dawn A. Gillis of AZ, Glen A. Gillis (Thao) of AZ, Sebastian R. Gillis of FSU Tallahassee, Cecelia S. Gillis of Bay High School; nieces and nephews, Appolonia, Athena, T.J. of CA, and Luhi Gillis of AZ; aunts and uncles, Richard Gillis (Donna) of FL, Paul Gillis (Carol) of DE, Ann Sylwanowicz of CA, Tom Schulz (Sally) of CO; and his cousins in CO, Mandy, Rich, Abigail, Brittany, Emily, Mary Esther Tuck and Pfeiffers; in CA, Sylwanowicz' (Craig); and in MA, John Gillis (Mary and children). A special note of endearment to Ken & Teresa of Luigi B.G. Restaurant and Abbott Miller of AZ. Mont enjoyed his co-workers and being an Engineer at Wyndham Emerald Shores Beach Resort. He was a member of the American Legion Post #392 and the Citizens Police Academy. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m., with a rosary service to be held at 7 p.m. conducted by Father Kevin McQuone. A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2 at the St. Dominic's Catholic Church with Very Reverend Father Peter Zalewski officiating.
