MINNIE LEE ALLAN
Minnie Lee Allan, of Panama City, FL, died on Friday, January 9, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 19, 1922 in Creighton, AL. She was a beloved mother, adored grandmother and gracious homemaker. She was truly a "blessed woman" with many talents and was cherished by her family; her many friends and treasured for her services to the local community. Her participation in her children's activities and church as well as other civic organizations set an example for many to follow. Some of her many hobbies included cooking, sewing, and fishing. Minnie was most happy when surrounded by children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In later life, she particularly enjoyed reuniting with fellow classmates of the 1942 Bay High School graduates at monthly luncheons.
Mrs. Allan was active in the First Baptist Church of Callaway and later East Bay Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher at various times during her life. Dutiful to the Parker Chapter 96 Order of the Eastern Star, Minnie participated in many of the committees, and served as a Past Worthy Matron and Past Royal Matron of the Amaranth.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty two years, Earl Allan, Sr.; father and mother John and Elizabeth Thomas; three brothers J.D. Thomas, Pete Thomas and Cecil Thomas. Minnie is survived by three sons; Earl R. Allan, Jr. and wife Jan, Charles D. Allan and wife, Beverly, of Panama City, and Kenneth R. Allan of North Augusta, South Carolina; ten grandchildren; Sher Allan Johnson and husband, Bryan, Rod Allan and wife, Kim, Jeff Allan and wife, Kelly, Lorrie Allan, Leah Allan Moseley and husband, Andrew, Katie Allan, Kenneth Allan Jr., Camille Allan, Benjamin Allan, Kaylee Allan and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Kalinich and Rev. Floyd Wright officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. Monday prior to the service. Interment will follow at Callaway Cemetery with Eastern Star Services conducted at the graveside.
The Family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Glen Cove Nursing Center for the care, concern and compassion shown during her extended stay.
Active pallbearers are Rod Allan, Jeff Allan, Bryan Johnson, Kenneth Allan Jr., Andrew Moseley, and Stephen Moseley. Honorary pallbearers are the members of her Sunday School Class.
