Obituary

Reverend Milton "Huie" Holloway passed on to eternal life on January 5, 2008. He was born in Andersonville, Georgia on December 22, 1931 and was the youngest of six children born to L.B. Holloway and Harriet (Lashley) Holloway.

He was a graduate of Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn) in 1955. He worked several years as a citrus buyer before returning to school. He graduated from Candler School of Theology at Emory in 1960 and was ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist He Church in 1962.

As a United Methodist Minister, he ministered at churches in the Florida, the South Indiana and the South Georgia Conferences. During his tenure, two of the churches were relocated and built anew. He has been an Associate Minister at Lynn Haven Methodist Church from 1998 to present.

During his active years, he served both at the District and the Conference levels of the UMC, most notably on the Board of Ordained Ministry.

He was a Mason and also a member of the Scottish Rite.

He was a loving father, grandfather and great- grandfather; he was always a wise counsel to those closest to him. He was level-headed and his judgment about life's problems was always sound. He had a good wit and gentle humor that often put problems in their proper perspective. He loved people and believed that kindness was the greatest virtue.

He is survived by his wife, Bonita Dolan Holloway, daughter, Emily Hutt (William), all of Lynn Haven, grandchildren, Letitia Sartin (Matt) of Kingsland, Georgia, Victoria Hutt of Sarasota, Florida, Alexandria Everhart (Todd) of Lynn Haven, Selena Hutt of Kingsland, Georgia, great grandson, Connor Everhart, sister, Wynelle Davis (Jimmie) of Lake Alford, Florida, brother, Howard Holloway (Jacqueline) of Andersonville, Georgia, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Lynn Haven United Methodist Church with Dr. Doug Pennington, Dr. Jim Luther officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Lynn Haven United Methodist Church Community Life Center Building Fund, 4501 Transmitter Road, Lynn Haven, FL 32404 or Covenant Hospice, 107 West 19th Street, Panama City, Florida 32405 in memory of Huie Holloway.
