Obituary

Milton Earl Acton of Panama City, FL passed away on April 1, 2020. He was born in Blount County, AL. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He held degrees from Jacksonville State University, Appalachian State University, and received his PhD in education from Florida State University. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1957, moving here from Key West, Florida. He was a retired educator and administrator in the public school system, serving for over 30 years at West Bay Elementary, St. Andrew School, Lucille Moore Elementary School, as well as in Bay County Schools administration. He served as an instructor at FSUPC for more than a decade. He was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Culp Acton; his parents, Lonnie and Ada Acton; and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by two daughters, Milette Acton Oden of Gastonia, N.C.; Adelia "Dee" Acton Tidwell (Keith) of Panama City, FL; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Billy Ray Acton, and a large number of nieces and nephews. A private family graveside service will be held in Clanton, AL. The family requests that any memorial gifts be made to The Haney Foundation or to St. Andrew United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life Service will be scheduled at a later date.
