Mildred Glass Worsham, 99, of Panama City, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016. A devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother, she was born August 29, 1916, in Hurtsboro, Alabama.
She attended Judson College and graduated with honors in Home Economics from Auburn University where she met and later married Stanley Moore Worsham of Birmingham, Alabama, on September 1, 1940. He was her beloved husband of 73 years until his passing June 15, 2013.
Mildred was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and a beauty queen at Auburn. She worked for two years as Home Economist for Birmingham Electric, conducting cooking schools and a radio fashion show. Later she taught in the local Junior and Senior High schools. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing her talent, especially her scuppernong pie, holiday white fruitcake and fresh coconut cake.
Mildred moved with her family to Panama City in 1956. She loved the Lord, First Baptist Church and the fellowship of its members. She was a dedicated member for 59 years where she served as a leader and officer in the local and state WMU, and lifelong Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Garden Club and Woman's Club where she received a Life-Time Honorary Membership.
She is survived by her children Sharon Worsham (Dr. David Dusenbery), Stanley Moore Worsham, Jr., Noel Fairall Brannan (Dr. Pete Brannan); three grandchildren, Stanley Moore "Trey" Worsham III, Jeff Brannan (Carmen), Steven Brannan (Shannon); and five great grandchildren, Hailey & Bailey Brannan, Bo Brannan, Drake Brannan and Luke Brannan.
The family is thankful for Mildred and Stanley's many friends, grateful to Mathison Retirement Center, Covenant Hospice, and all who cared for her in her final days.
A memorial service will be held Saturday March 19 at 3:00 PM in the First Baptist Church fellowship hall followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Annie Armstrong Mission Offering c/o First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1200, Panama City, FL 32402.
