MILDRED ALICE DeCAINDRY TYLER
Mildred Alice DeCaindry Tyler of Panama City passed away on October 29, 2011. Alice was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and lived with her parents William and Mildred DeCaindry of Swarthmore, Pennsylvania until attending the University of Maryland. In 1958, upon graduation with a Bachelors degree in Education, she married First Lieutenant John Tyler United States Marine Corps, a then recent graduate of the Naval Academy.
Besides her husband of 53 years (Colonel John Townsend Tyler USMC Retired), Alice is survived by her sister, Ginny Matson of Panama City, and three children (Matthew McClain Tyler of Berlin, Germany; William Townsend Tyler of San Luis Obispo, California; and John Benjamin Tyler of Mesa, Arizona) and six grandchildren.
Alice spent many years as a Marine Corps wife working tirelessly for the Navy/Marine Corps Relief Association. Alice also sold Real Estate and further, obtained her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Arizona and held teaching positions in Maryland, California and Arizona.
Her family wishes to thank her many friends, the members of St. John's Catholic Church, especially Father George, all her health care providers, and the staff of Covenant Hospice for all their love and support. In lieu of flowers it is requested offerings in her memory be sent to Covenant Hospice or The Science and Discovery Center of North West Florida, 308 Airport Avenue, Panama City. We will miss you, Alice. A memorial mass will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the St. John Catholic Church.
