MILDRED BOWEN FERGUSON

Mildred Bowen Ferguson joined her Heavenly Father and a host of family and friends on January 30, 2012. She was born on November 15, 1920 in Petersburg, Virginia to John and Ruth McLeod Bowen. She graduated from Montreat High School in 1939 and Farmville State Teachers College in 1942. She married Henry R. Ferguson in 1943 in Oklahoma City, OK, where Henry was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base.

During her lifetime, Mildred was very active in church choir, Sunday School, Women's Missionary Society at First Baptist Church of Panama City and Dothan, Alabama, and the garden club. She was president of the Women's Division of the Dothan Chamber of Commerce and the Olympia Spa Women's golf association. She worked as office manager for Dr. Byrd, Dr. Pope and Dr. Suggs, surgeons in Dothan from 1963 until 1970.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Bowen, her husband, Henry Ferguson, and her sisters Ruth Hunt, Mary Alice Potts and Euna Mae Hatton.

Mildred leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Margie Ann Cullen (Jock) of Panama City, FL and son, William H. Ferguson (Anita) of Echo, AL. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Carol Leigh McGuffin (Tim), Paige Pullen (Todd), Kenny Cullen (Celina), Billy Ferguson (Kim), Sheri White (Jason), Erin Moore (Brandon) and thirteen great-grandchildren, Lauren McGuffin Fielding (John), Taylor and Bowen McGuffin, Brody, Garret and Danielle Cullen, Gabriel Pullen, Kelsey, Kyleigh and Kody White, Morgan and Trevor Ferguson, and Jake Moore.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Dothan, AL. Those desiring may make memorial donations to Covenant Hospice or to the First Baptist Church of Panama City Building Fund in memory of Mildred Ferguson.
