MILDRED DICKINSON
Mildred Dickinson, a long time resident of Panama City, died Monday, March 19 in Evergreen, Colorado. She was 89. Mildred was born and raised in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, and attended Palmer College in DeFuniak, and the Florida State College for Women (now FSU) where she earned a Master's degree in Home Economics. She met her husband James E. (Knot) Dickinson while teaching in Madison, Florida. In 1955, the family moved to Panama City and Mildred began her career at Jinks Junior High School teaching Home Economics. She also taught 8th grade math for many years at Jinks and retired after 30 years of service. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Panama City, where she was a member of the Wesley Bible Sunday School Class and the Elizabeth Circle. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of several bridge groups.
Mildred is survived by her brothers Bert and Hugh Hill, her children Patsy Dickinson Langworthy and James E. Dickinson Jr., son-in-law and daughter-in-law Cort Langworthy III and Nancy Godwin Dickinson, grand children Aaron and Ashley Dickinson and Cort Langworthy IV and Cathy Langworthy Shipp, and great grand children Vaughan Langworthy and Ava Shipp.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 27th at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Panama City, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Wesley Bible class or the Si Mathison Family Life Center of the First United Methodist Church of Panama City, Florida.
