Mildred Elouise Brookins, 80, of Panama City, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, December 4, 2014. She was born on December 30, 1933 in Columbia, Alabama to David Freeman & Ellaphaire Scott. She was a retired assistant manager for S & H Green Stamps. She was a devoted member of Hiland Park Assembly of God. Her faith and her family were her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Brookins; and three sisters, Jean Moran, Lois Ziglar and Carolyn Ritter. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Virginia Chestnut (Steve); two grandchildren, Chris Chestnut (Michelle), Jeremy L. Chestnut (Tasha); four great grandchildren, Kyle Steven Chestnut, Lelyn James Chestnut, Katie Chestnut, Jackson Tyler Chestnut; one sister, Patricia Eads; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Doris Endsley, George & Marybeth Ritter, Linda & Brian Carter, Thelma Hinson and Jean Sewell. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1 – 2 p.m. prior to the service. The family would like to thank Covenant Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
