Michael Hughes, 77, of Panama City, entered the Church triumphant on September 6, 2023.  He was born December 1, 1945 in Panama City to Willie & Omega Hughes.  He graduated from Bay High School and the Merchant Marines Academy. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  He was a retired oil company distributor.  He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Celeste Hughes.  He is survived by two sisters, Patricia McCormick, Linda Cunningham (Charles); brother, Richard "Dick" Hughes (Carolyn); very special friend, Diana Barnett and numerous nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 12 noon in the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul McComack officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 11 a.m-12 noon prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery with military honors conducted at the graveside.  Those desiring may make memorial donations to the Trinity Lutheran Church Homeless ministry in memory of Michael Hughes.
