MICHAEL JOHNSTON GAFFNEY
Michael Johnston Gaffney, born March 16, 1941, passed away on August 2, 2012. He was predeceased by his father, LTC William Franklin Gaffney; mother, Anna Marie Gaffney; and two brothers, William and Robert Gaffney. He is survived by three children, Michael Gaffney, Jr, CW3 Stephen Gaffney, Stephanie Gaffney; five grandchildren, Hannah, Annelise, Elijah, Cayden, Liam; two daughters-in-law, Julie Sullivan, Heather Maddox; brother, MAJ Richard Gaffney and wife Judy; two nieces, Susan and Debbie; and one nephew, Rick Gaffney. He was anxiously awaiting the birth of his sixth grandchild, Lilliana Marie, due in October. He loved his family and he loved life. He was an avid fisherman and sports fan. He loved the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, Florida State Seminoles and NASCAR. He will be remembered for his wit and sense of humor. He was a people person and never met a stranger. He took care of his parents when they became ill. He was a good man, a wonderful dad and special man to all who knew him. He will be missed. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 — 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bay County Humane Society, P.O Box 883, Panama City, FL 32402.
