MICHAEL LOUIS EVANS
Michael Louis Evans, 58, of Panama City, Florida, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 20th, 2009, after a protracted illness.
Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, on February 23rd, 1951, Mike, as he was known to family and friends, served his country for twenty years in the United States Army. He retired in 1990 as a staff sergeant, and moved with his family to Panama City in 1994. Here, Michael continued to serve his country, working at NSA Panama City Beach until 2001. He loved traveling and fishing, and was an avid reader and history buff.
Michael was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Lee, of Portage, Pennsylvania, and sister, Nancy Weyandt, of Claysburg, Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Pamela, of Panama City; son, Robert, and daughter-in-law Zulay, also of Panama City; his parents, Robert and Joyce Evans, of Panama City Beach; sister Christine and her husband Robert Steadman of Ridge Spring, South Carolina; brother-in-law Jerry Weyandt of Claysburg, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Cameron, Jessica, and Victoria; and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for friends and family on Sunday, May 24th, 2009 at Wilson Funeral Home at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Covenant Hospice at www.covenanthospice.com, and Soldier's Angels at www.soldiersangels.com, two wonderful organizations who make a difference in the lives of all they touch.
