MICHAEL LEE "MIKE" BATES
Michael Lee "Mike" Bates, 53, of Youngstown, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2013 in his home after a long battle with cancer. Mike was born on February 8, 1960 in Painesville, Ohio. He worked as the Director and Lead Investigator of the District 14 Medical Examiner's Office. He was a member of the FDIAI and the Bay County Horseman's Association. He is survived by his wife, Amanda Odom Bates; five children, Shaelee Bates, Anaya Marques, Christina Bates, Jesse Bates, Alyssa Congdon; mother, Kathleen Stucker and husband Bob; brother, Jeff Bates and wife Dee; sister, Cara Gallagher; brother, Robert Bates; and step-brother, Mike Gallagher. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013 in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, 12902 USF Magnolia Dr, Tampa, FL in memory of Mike Bates.
