MAURICE E. COUNCIL
Maurice E. Council, 66, of Panama City Beach, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in his home. He was born May 4, 1943 in Tallahassee, Florida. He was a retired Federal Agent with Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and served in this capacity for thirty two years. After retirement, Maurice continued his commitment to law enforcement by training new agents at ATF National Training Academy at Glencoe, Georgia. He was a graduate of the school of Criminology at the Florida State University. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice E. and Inez Council. He is survived by his wife, Lucy Campbell Council of Panama City Beach, daughter, Michelle Council and partner Regina Roat of Houston, Texas, 3 sisters, Gloria Dowden and husband Harry, Marcia Pearson and husband Jerry of Tallahassee, Sharon Tyler and husband Rick of Beaumont, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Michelle Council and Bob Daffin officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. Maurice believed in the power of education to change lives and our community. He expressly requested that no flowers be sent to his family or to the funeral home, but instead contribute to the Maurice E. Council Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Florida State University School of Criminology. There is no minimum donation.
